Chasing Venus
is out on e-readers! It tells the story of mystery writer Annette Rowell and TV
crime-show host Reid Gardner.
Annie’s
latest novel is leapfrogging up the bestseller lists, and with
every surge in sales she’s becoming more of a household name.
The literary success she’s struggled so hard for would be a
dream come true were it not for the killer preying on
bestselling authors.
Reid
hosts a syndicated crime show dedicated to capturing the most
dangerous fugitives. The former LAPD cop knows only too well
how violence can shatter lives, and is passionate about helping
victims. None arouses his ardor more than the pretty brunette
author who’s become the target of a psychopath. Yet falling in
love with her could cost him not only the reputation he’s spent
years building, but the one killer who’s eluded him for years …
Chasing Venus
grew out
of a brainstorming session I had in San Francisco with a group
of my writer friends. No doubt over chocolate—chocolate is a
feature of all of our brainstorming sessions!—we imagined a
struggling writer getting the crazy idea to kill mega-selling
authors to free up space on the bestseller lists. I quickly
glommed on to the idea of a John Gardner-type character as the
threatened writer’s romantic hero—a tough, handsome
crime-fighter battling his own demons. Annie and Reid were
born.
I’m very
excited about Chasing Venus, which has a lot in
common with my first three novels:
Falling Star,
To Catch the Moon,
and Too Close
to the Sun. To find out more about it, and to read

On a
lighter fictional note, I am currently writing the second
installment of the Ms America mystery series, Ms America
and the Villainy in Vegas. In this outing, as zany as
the first, Happy finds herself on the famed Strip serving as
bridesmaid to pageant-wear-purveyor Sally Anne Gibbons. But
wouldn’t you know it? The best man turns up dead even before
the vows have been exchanged. Happy delves into another murder
investigation, alongside fellow beauty queens Shanelle Walker
and Trixie Barnett. And who puts in a surprise appearance in
Sin City but hunky pageant emcee Mario Suave ...

In the meanwhile, I do hope you enjoy Chasing Venus.
Send me an e-mail and let me know what you think of it. I’m
also weighing the pros and cons of writing a sequel centering
on Sheila Banerjee and I’d love your thoughts. You’ll see there
are changes underfoot in her life as Chasing Venus
ends.
All best wishes.
And keep reading!
